The B 66 UC-D is a high-performance universal, double head, continuous action, tamping machine designed for normal and high-speed lines. The B 66 UC-D consists of a tamping shuttle supported by two bogies and on which the machine frame rests. The power unit is located on the power unit trailer resting on a bogie and an axle.
The tamping shuttle is fitted with height independent tamping units, a lifting and slewing clamp, as well as two telescopic diverging track lifting devices to assist the lifting and slewing clamp when handling heavy switches and crossings. This machine is able to deal with switches and crossings as well as plain line in continuous mode. It can also perform this work in discontinuous mode if necessary. It can also be used as a single or double head machine, depending on site conditions. All these characteristics make it a very versatile machine.
The B 66 UC is a high-performance universal continuous action tamping machine designed for normal and high-speed lines. In addition to the plain line, it can handle the heaviest switches and crossings, especially those with concrete sleepers. This machine has a tamping shuttle fitted with four tamping units and a lifting and slewing clamp. In addition to these tools, telescopic diverging track lifting devices can be used when handling heavy switches and crossings. The very responsive shuttle allows a substantial output on plain line despite the fact that this is a single-head machine. The longitudinal stroke of the tamping units is long enough to position the units in a way to easily and quickly tamp Y shaped sleepers. Located in the centre of the machine, the tamping cabin provides an excellent visibility on the tools and the track. Thanks to the machine’s user-friendliness and its ergonomic controls, only two operators are needed to operate the B 66 UC to its full potential.
The B 66 U is a high-performance universal tamping machine primarily designed for handling switches and crossings. The B 66 U is fitted with the same tools as the B 66 UC. Both machines have equivalent performance when handling switches and crossings. Economically, the B 66 U, without shuttle, is the perfect choice when switches and crossings tamping is more important than plain line tamping. Thanks to the tamping cabin located in the centre of the machine, the visibility over the tools and the track is excellent. Tamping of switches and crossings is easily carried out both on normal lines and on high-speed lines. Thanks to the machine’s user-friendliness and its ergonomic controls, only two operators are needed to operate the B 66 U to its full potential.
The B 45 UE is a universal, single head, tamping machine mainly used on normal lines. This machine configuration is similar to that of the B 45 D, however, the tools are suited for switches and crossings, as well as plain line. The B 45 UE is fitted with a hook and roller clamp and 4 C 1,800 mm type combined tamping units. The 16 tamping tools are driven by MATISA’s high frequency elliptical tamping technology. The combination of these tools gives a great potential. The B 45 UE can easily work on switches and crossings or follow track renewal and ballast cleaning machines while also ensuring good performance on plain line.
To ease the switches and crossings tamping, the B 45 UE can be fitted with diverging track lifting devices. Additional tools, such as a switch or a plain line ballast clearing brush, a ballast storage hopper, ballast profiling ploughs, or crib and shoulder ballast compaction tools can be fitted on a trailer.
As for the B 45 D, track geometry recording trolleys and additional cabins can also be fitted on a trailer. This tamping machine can be used on standard, broad and narrow gauges as well as networks with limited axle load and very restrictive clearance gauge.
“Double track gauge” equipment is also available. With its simple design, this highly versatile machine is easy to use and excels in the different encountered worksite situations.
Specifically designed for the South-American, Asian and African markets, the B 35 C is a universal single head tamping machine used on normal lines. Supported by a carrying axle and a motorised bogie, this machine has two cabins fitted with working and driving posts as well as a power unit driven by a SCANIA® or, on request, by a CATERPILLAR® engine. Equipped with four combined tamping units totalling 16 tamping tools and a hook and twin roller clamp, this tamping machine is perfectly suited to work on switches and crossings and on plain line. As additional equipment, the tamping machine can be fitted with diverging track lifting devices.
The tamping cabin operator has a significant number of controls to deal with during the tamping process. These actions are no longer necessary in the new MATISA tamping machine workspace. The operator’s tasks are simplified as a result of the machine settings being managed through a central control unit with a touch-screen display, the tools being positioned through multifunction joysticks as well as by many automated controls.
